Family-friendly stay: Discovery Parks - Whyalla Foreshore, South Australia

We have had the pleasure of staying at Discovery Parks - Whyalla Foreshore twice now, staying in both a van site and a cabin, and I am excited to share what a great destination it is for a fun family getaway!

The reason we first chose to stay at the park is because of its location - it is right on the shore of the beautiful Spencer Gulf, with the waterfront sites backing directly onto the beach. Is there anything better than falling asleep to the sound of the sea?

Our most recent stay there was during winter, as we had come to Whyalla to snorkel with the giant cuttlefish (more about that here), and we decided to stay in a cabin - oh the luxury of having a heater and our own bathroom!

We stayed in a Deluxe 2 bedroom cabin, and it had everything that we needed for our stay - comfortable beds, a fully equipped kitchen, lounge room with tv, and a deck overlooking the beach.

The park’s facilities for campers are also excellent - big camp kitchens, BBQs, large bathrooms, a laundry room, everything that you need for a comfortable stay!

Being a Discovery Park, there are so many things to keep the kids entertained. Our kids loved the giant jumping pillow, happily bouncing for hours!

They also have an indoor play recreation room, as well as an outdoor playground, minigolf and giant chess. During school holidays they also have lots of additional fun activities for the kids.

The staff deserve a special shout out - they were all so friendly and ready to assist with any questions we had.

The park is located a short walk along the beach from the Whyalla marina (where you can often see wild dolphins!) and its famous circular jetty, which is definitely worth a visit.

Whyalla has all the big supermarkets and shops, as well as great cafes, pubs, restaurants and lots of other things to do, but honestly, we spent most of our days relaxing at the park!

With its idyllic location, comfortable accommodation and powered sites, great facilities and so many family-friendly activities, it is a great spot for families seeking a relaxing and fun place to stay in Whyalla.

Although Discovery Parks and Resorts hosted our most recent stay, this blog is an honest account of our experiences at the park.
